What's this wood? ![]() I'm planning a small jumbo with a three piece back of maple and this wood as the center piece. I got it in a pile of 10 orphan sides I bought a few years ago. Any help in id'ing it would be appreciated. |

My guess is koa. It's awfully hard to tell from photos, though. |

Definitely a platymicium species, macacauba or hormigo. Hormigo is generally darker than that. |

The white balance setting the camera uses can really throw the color curve off so it is almost impossible to say with 100% certainty what the wood is. With all that being said canarywood is my best guess. |

The orange-ish color I see along with the white sapwood looks like some Amazon Rosewood I bought a while back Brent |

The photos of Guatemalan rosewood that I can find online look like the wood I have, so I'm going with Gautemalan. Thanks for responding. |
